The electric vehicle charging network is a charging station infrastructure system for charging electric vehicles. There are two main types: AC charging stations and DC quick chargers. Batteries can only be charged with direct current (DC), but most of the power from the mains is supplied as alternating current (AC). Most electric vehicles have an onboard charger with an AC-to-DC converter

Charging stations provide connections that comply with various international standards. DC charging stations are usually equipped with multiple ports for charging different vehicles using competing standards. Public charging stations are usually located on the side of the road, in shopping malls, government buildings, and other parking lots. Private charging stations are usually located at home, at work and in hotels.

Many governments, car makers and charging infrastructure providers have tried to build networks. Currently, charging network providers include either proprietary or hardware-agnostic solutions.
